*Track improving to near Good 4 & Rail True:

*1st Race @ 12.40pm & ALL Races carry a BOBS Silver Bonus available up to $9,625.00; except Race 2 offering a BOBS Silver Bonus up to $19.250.00

*RACE 1 @ 12.40pm AUSTRALIAN BLOODSTOCK 3YO MAIDEN PLATE (900m) – Set Weights; Apprentices Can Claim:

We open up over the short course on a firming track, with an outside chance of light showers. Always had a liking for Newcastle-based Extreme Choice filly 5. DON’T DOUBT KATIE (Nathan Doyle/Dylan Gibbons a3kg; 52.5kg) who hasn’t started since that nice closing debut run with little luck five weeks ago. Gets in beautifully in a set weights race after the full claim, and can settle back in the field and be saved up for one big run on a track she’ll relish.

*MAIN DANGERS: Debutant Headwater filly 6. Lake Tana is ready to go off two winning trials for a leading metropolitan yard. Watch the betting closely on three-year-old metro colt 2. Retiro three weeks since a solid debut run on the Kensington track; while included in exotics local filly 8. Shamrock Lass who did her best work late on debut here when specked at a double-figure price nine days ago.

Likely Tempo: Good

My Betting Attack: DON’T DOUBT KATIE to WIN & Trifecta: 5,6/2,5,6,8/2,5,6,8

*RACE 2 @ 1.15pm HUNGERFORD HILL 3YO’s & UP CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1700m) – Set Weights; Apprentices Can Claim:

Out to a middle distance we go, and progressive four-year-old metropolitan mare 7. NARRATED (Ciaron Maher & David Eustace/Christian Reith; 57kg) seemingly has this by the throat getting out in distance third-up. Blitzed a good maiden first-up before boxing on okay in a stronger grade, and stable has made a key gear change. Was scratched from a stronger race later in the meeting to run here.

*MAIN DANGERS: In a field of little depth, improving four-year-old 8. Mantinello can keep the top selection honest fourth-up after a fair chasing effort at Wyong, and the winner there has since won comfortably again. Don’t dismiss provincial four-year-old 4. Zoomerango who is hard fit and on the quick back-up after hitting the line from well back here.

Likely Tempo: Moderate to Fair

My Betting Attack: NARRATED to WIN & Quinella 7 and 8

*RACE 3 @ 1.50pm YARRAMAN PARK MAIDEN HCP (1600m) – Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:

Tough provincial four-year-old 1. TROJAN HERO (Kylie Gavenlock/Jeff Penza; 59kg) has worked home impressively in his last two, and can peak fourth-up in his first prep back on a bigger track.

*MAIN DANGERS: Well bred and improving filly 2. Alight The Night was impressive hitting the line on debut at Tamworth despite being unwanted in betting. In form jockey sticks carrying half kilo less, and also looks suited on the bigger sweeping circuit. Local mare 4. Front Row Ticket is very honest in and around this class and distance, but would need to find a length back on the drier track. Big gap to the rest.

Likely Tempo: Fair to Reasonable

My Betting Attack: TROJAN HERO to WIN & Quinella: 1 and 2

*RACE 4 @ 2.25pm COASTLINE POOLS BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1600m) – Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:

Typical competitive battle in this grade over the mile, with several chances in an evenly run affair. Won’t be getting off progressive provincial four-year-old 3. McNAIR (Allan Denham/Ashley Morgan; 58kg) in a heartbeat despite moving up in class. Covered a stack of ground but still found the line two runs back before chasing hard to run down a smart one who then bolted in his next start at CL2 level. Won two of his last three, and at peak fitness can settle back on a suitably bigger track and finish over the top. Should be in Midway company soon.

*MAIN DANGERS: Capable four-year-old 2. Unrelenting is a clear threat coming back in grade, and can roll forward from an ideal barrier. Led all the way to win comfortably in this class three runs back. Provincial five-year-old 1. Controlthewitness must be given another chance, with blinkers added, after dropping out badly in tougher metro company. Had previously surged home to win a similar race at Gosford in heavy ground, and draws to be tucked away on the fence midfield and be strong late. Metro four-year-old 4. Super Solar has worked home okay in two similar races since winning a CL1, although without a lot of speed on, might be looking for further now.

Likely Tempo: Fair

My Betting Attack: McNAIR to WIN & Trifecta 2,3/1,2,3/1,2,3,4

*RACE 5 @ 3.05pm PFD FOODS CLASS 1 HCP (900m) – Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:

Back to the flying sprint, and keen on Capitalist three-year-old 3. CAPITAL REIGN (Gary Portelli/Ms Alysha Collett; 56.5kg) who resumes for a strong metro stable off a smart trial win. Beat a handy maiden field on debut early autumn before sticking on okay in a classy 2YO field.

*MAIN DANGERS: Very keen to see metro three-year-old 1. Bourbon Flyer back as a gelding off a 19-week spell. Show speed to win at home on debut before tackling the Group 3 Black Opal at only his second start. Sat wide in a recent trial, but still cruised home, and shouldn’t have any trouble getting over from the wider draw. Be surprised if anything else wins, although home track five-year-old mare 2. Havin’ Fun resumes off two progressive trials from the inside draw, with blinkers removed; talented mare 5. Time To Target returns off a nice trial; and four-year-old last start maiden winner 4. Minniti continues to sneak down in the weights.

Likely Tempo: Good to Strong

My Betting Attack: CAPITAL REIGN to WIN & Quinella: 1 and 3

*RACE 6 @ 3.40pm HUNTER VALLEY PREMIUM MEATS MAIDEN PLATE (1200m) – Set Weights; Apprentices Can Claim:

Several dual acceptors and a few first starters will make this a very tricky affair. Talented and resuming Tivaci filly 13. MASCHERATA (John O’Shea/Ms Alysha Collett; 55kg) has looked very good at the trials for a leading metropolitan stable. Most recent effort was behind Journalism who then won impressively on debut at Hawkesbury on Tuesday.

*MAIN DANGERS: Big watch on Lonhro three-year-old 6. Lo Lo Lonhro on debut from a nice gate off a recent forward trial for the top metropolitan yard. Was scratched from Newcastle on Wednesday to be saved for this. Provincial filly 11. In The Blink can improve sharply second-up with a significant drop in weight, and also preferred here to Newcastle. Keep safe local filly 12. Loversfield who backs up in 12 days off a nice closing debut run at Muswellbrook; while consistent local four-year-old 4. Texan Windstorm resumes off a quiet trial, and draws inside.

Likely Tempo: Solid

My Betting Attack: MASCHERATA to WIN & First Four: 6,13/4,6,11,12,13/4,6,11,12,13/4,6,11,12,13

*RACE 7 @ 4.20pm SHARP OFFICE BENCHMARK 64 HCP (1200m) – Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:

Not a great deal between most of these, with decent speed on. Like talented five-year-old local mare 3. MOETTA (Rodney Northam/Reece Jones a2kg; 55.5kg) who has been ultra competitive in three consecutive strong Highways, and looks well placed back in this company carrying only 1kg more after the claim.

*MAIN DANGERS: Lightly raced mare 9. Artie’s Aura worked home nicely here resuming in a handy CL1. Improving four-year-old 2. Mystic Vein dug in hard when leading all the way at Goulburn in weaker grade, and the second horse from that race then won comfortably at Canberra. Taking on some better ones here, but still on the rise and blinkers come off. Metro three-year-old 10. Kickatorp steps up from a maiden win on debut in heavy ground.

Likely Tempo: Solid to Good

My Betting Attack: MOETTA Each Way

*RACE 8 @ 4.55pm REWARD HOSPITALITY CLASS 1 HCP (1400m) – Min Weight 55kg; Apprentices Can Claim:

We close the card with what shapes as a two-horse war. Promising Newcastle four-year-old 2. SAMMY (Kris Lees/Dylan Gibbons a3kg; 56kg) was very well backed when charging home late, resuming in a deeper provincial race. That looks an ideal blow-out for this over more ground and on a bigger track carrying 3kg less after the claim. Took on Group company last spring, and by-passed home track meeting on Wednesday to run here.

*MAIN DANGERS: Lightly raced metro mare 5. Ita should have bolted in resuming in the heavy at Goulburn when held up badly before surging home to miss narrowly, and the trainer has gone for a new rider. Will settle well back again from the wide draw, but carries 5kg less for this tougher test. Gap to the rest headed by lightly raced four-year-old 3. Cheeky Nugget who steps up from a fast finishing effort in weaker company.

Likely Tempo: Solid

My Betting Attack: SAMMY to WIN
